Can I Print on My Garment?
Using and applying our transfer prints is easy. When using standard settings on the most common materials, our transfers will bond with the garment’s fibers and deliver a perfect result—provided the application is done correctly.
When applying transfers to new materials that you have not worked with before, you should always test whether the garment is suitable for heat transfer application. That is why we have outlined instructions below on how to test whether your garment works for printing before starting production.
A golden rule is to always test the transfer on new garments you have not used before. This allows you to quickly determine whether any special handling is required to achieve a good result.
How Do I Know Which Garments Are Suitable for Printing?
When working with a new garment you have no prior experience with, it can often be difficult to determine whether it is suitable for transfer printing. Since there are countless variations of textile materials on the market, there is no definitive guide specifying exactly which materials work and which do not. The garment manufacturer is always a good source of information if you are unsure.

Can You Test the Garment for Me?
If the supplier lacks information about whether a garment is suitable for transfer printing, we at Hot Screen can help by performing wash tests. We apply the selected transfer to the garment in our test lab and then wash and dry it according to the garment’s care instructions. Afterward, we provide a report with wash and drying results along with an assessment of the garment’s suitability for our transfer prints.
Our experience from years of transfer production has shown that properly conducted testing with multiple wash cycles is the only method that is 100% reliable in determining whether our transfers work on a specific material.
