Using and applying our transfer prints is easy. If you are using standard settings on the “most common” materials, our transfer should stick to the garment’s fibres and give you a perfect result, provided the application is performed correctly.
When applying a transfer to a new material that you have never printed on before, you should always test whether the garment is suitable for a heat transfer. We have therefore produced some instructions on how you should test the suitability of your garment for printing before beginning production.
Keep in mind that you should always run a test transfer on new garments that you haven’t used before. This allows you to assess early on whether a different technique is required to achieve a good result.
When using a new garment that you have no previous experience with, it is often difficult to know whether or not it is suitable for a transfer print. Since there are countless variations of textiles on the market, there is no one-size-fits-all guide on exactly which materials work and which don’t. The manufacturers of the garment are always a good source of information if you are not sure.
If the supplier doesn’t have information on the suitability of a garment for transfer printing, we at Hot Screen can help you test the material using laundry tests. We apply your preferred transfer print to the garment in our test lab, then wash and dry it according to its care instructions. We then deliver a report containing the washing and drying results along with an assessment of the suitability of the garment for a transfer print.
All the experience we have gained over years in the transfer business has taught us that correcting testing with a lot of wash cycles is the only method 100% guaranteed to determine whether or not our transfer prints will work on a material.
If you want us to test out your textile or garment for printing, please don’t hesitate to contact our Sales Support team who can help you out!
